About Me

Hey there! I’m Paola Bazan and I am an aspiring Motion Graphics Designer with a concentration in Design and Production. I love learning and experimenting with all types of media, especially within the realms of graphic design and motion graphics. For this capstone, I pushed myself to delve further into After Effects and see what different types of media I could accomplish while creating content that gives myself and others a sense of nostalgia. I hope you enjoy it!

Project Description

“Stay With Me” is a minute-long motion graphics video that illustrates different types of media that resemble the 80s Japan City Pop aesthetic. While giving the viewers an aesthetically pleasing portrayal of the infamous 80s City Pop song “Stay With Me” by Miki Matsubara, it presents a sense of nostalgia for people who either grew up in this era or are familiar with it. If you are a fan of the 80s and retro content, you should check it out!

What is one piece of advice you would provide to new ATEC students?

As an ATEC major, I always felt that UTD provided classes for students to learn different types of skills such as animation, illustration, videography, sound design, motion design, and game design. However, for someone who wasn’t so sure as to what they wanted to do within all of these media types, it was hard for me to pick which one I was truly passionate about. As I was going along my senior year, I figured out that you don’t have to choose which one you want to focus on because they all intersect with one another and make you learn more about the field of technological art. If I could give advice to someone who felt exactly like I did two years ago, never stop learning, advancing, and being passionate about what you do.
