Ariah Ashmore
About Me
Hello! My name is Ariah Ashmore. I’m a 2-D artist who specializes in character design in both traditional and digital mediums. Drawing characters has been a staple hobby of mine for as long as I can remember, whether they were my favorite characters from a game I’ve played or something from my own imagination. I used this capstone project to test working with a client to create a potential product and explore my interests in character design. Other things I do in my downtime are: playing games (both video games and traditional tabletop games), nature-walking, rock collecting, painting, sculpting, and calligraphy.
Project Description
“Echoes of the Voice” is a proof of concept for an art book whose assets would be used in a hypothetical setting book for Dungeons & Dragons 5th edition. I will be working with another UTD student to create the artwork for the assets and illustrations of this homebrew setting.
What will you miss most about UTD after graduation?
UTD is a really good space for different communities and I’m really going to miss the clubs I attended that were on campus, like Pokémon League. I’m also really going to miss the professors that helped teach me. I thoroughly enjoyed them as people and professionals in their field. While I’ll keep in touch with the friends I’ve made, I’m really going to miss the friends who are not yet graduated. Although I’ll still occasionally visit as an alumna, I know I’m going to miss being on campus more often, as I’ve always found it a lovely place to hang out.
What’s your favorite memory of ATEC?
One of my favorite memories was when I was in Game Design I class during my Freshman year. The groups that I was involved in that semester usually met in the ATEC Lobby where we discussed and play tested the games that we made together. These are some of my favorite memories because I made lasting friendships in those groups. Those times were when I felt really excited to be a part of the game-making process with my character design. Additionally, in my first few semesters at UTD, Pokémon League was held in an ATEC classroom, so I have many positive memories from that as well.
