Xochitl Juarez
About Me
Hi, my name is Xochitl Juarez. I’m a Dallas native that’s always been interested in animation and tinkering with arts and crafts. When I have free time, I like to watch animations, play video games, and try out random crafts with friends. I have a particular interest in lighting and motion graphics, fields that I would like to explore more in the future. Working on my capstone allowed me to combine the two and experiment with how they could be used together. Alongside wanting to test my skills, I blended past inspirations that made me interested in animation in the first place into my capstone project.
Project Description
More Than Meets the Eye is a short video that combines motion graphics with 3D assets onto a live action background. The goal is to allow illustrated and rendered objects to take the spotlight in an otherwise normal environment.
What’s something that is always on your work desk?
A kneaded eraser I shape into different faces depending on how I feel. It usually fluctuates between a smiley face and screaming.
What’s on your music playlist?
Rap, rock, synthwave, j-pop, and game soundtracks. My top artists lately are Exociety, Daoko, Dance With the Dead, and Caifanes. Some soundtracks that I’ve been listening to are from Yume Nikki and other RPG Maker games, Silent Hill, Genshin, Nier, and Kirby. I also started listening to Vocaloid again with Utsu-P, Numtack05, Wowaka, and some other nostalgic songs and producers.
